Winter 2006-2007 Rocket ProjectsLevel 3 Cert ProjectNext was to put on the external fillets. Given the outside temps the little space heater came in handy for making the epoxy workable. However, I did get them a little larger than intended. Looks like some time sanding is in order. That being said I've not had a fin break off before so.... Now that all the filleting is complete I finished securing in the upper two centering rings and the aft centering ring and motor retainer, an Aeropack screw on 98mm rig. For the electronics bay I glued in wooden dowels. These serve several purposes. First they give me a place to mount the t-nuts that the screws go into that hold the upper airframe to the bay. (see the third photo) They also allow me to slide the electronics sled into the bay in a tight fit that requires no additional restraint. You'll see this when I add photos of the sled being completed. I've been experimenting with a Rocket Hunter tracker this past year. For this rocket I wanted a way to secure the tracker away from everything else and keep it in one piece. I used PVC components to build a mini-bay for the transmitter. The antenna goes out a hole in the top and up into the closed transition for the rocket. I'll just wrap the transmitter in some bubble wrap to secure it before flight.
