Ultimate Endeavor Project - Page 3 After getting all the fins tacked in we injected West System epoxy into these holes (all 24 of them!) to secure the fins to the motor mount and to the airframe on the inside. Because of the way the epoxy likes to run around inside the airframe we ended up having to redrill some of the holes once we rotated to do the next set of 8. No pictures of the actual injection as it's a multi-person job to execute and there was no one to photograph at the time. Now on to all the fillets. Jeesh there's a lot with all these fins! All fillets set and finishing sanding is begun. As sanding is my least favorite activity I enlisted help :). In the nose I wanted an additional same electronics bay or a transmitter. For deployment the nose cone will come down separately after deploying the main via a Sky Angle deployment bag. So I used the remains of the cato'd Firestorm to build a bay into the nose. The technique used here is the same as the Hawk Mountain Beast uses. Final epoxy of the fore centering ring and setting up to do the final on the aft ring. Stay tunned! |
