There's one downside to these fin cans, the centering ring doesn't fit snug into the end of the can. As you can see here I had to cut and glue in a piece of airframe to make the aft centering ring fit better. Getting the fore centering ring glued in was not so much fun either and once you mix in the chopped carbon fiber the epoxy doesn't run so well. Now however I was ready to epoxy in the aft ring. Of course the fit still wasn't perfect thus the shop towels taped in to stop runoff. Remember to clean them up while the epoxy is still "green" and not fully cured. Now ready for the external epoxy again with 1/4" chopped carbon fiber in West System slow setting epoxy. (1/21/06) |
