So the rain and cold is upon us and no close
launches are scheduled in the near future. Down to the basement I go to
work on the winter projects for 2006. I have two large projects in the
works right now and will be attempting to document the construction, something I
haven't done before.
The first is a 2/3rd scale Tomahawk made out
of G-12 and G-10 fiberglass parts from Performance Rocketry. It is 6" in diameter and should be 11' tall
when done. The plan is to put it up on a CTI L-1115 at FITS 2006. I
plan on building the avionics bay to house both a G-Wiz DCS and a Perfect Flite
MAWD flight computers. Below you can see the very beginning. Click

Also in progress at the same time is a PML
Ultimate Endeavor. The airframes have been fiber glassed and I'll be making
several modifications to the stock kit. It is also a 6" diameter rocket
but will likely end up much heavier than the Tomahawk given the materials being
used. While the Tomahawk has a single 98mm motor the Endeavor will have a
cluster of on 54mm central motor and 3 38mm motors around it. It will use
the same electronics sled for it's avionics bay and will also be designed to
allow for air-starting some of the motors. Click
